About Us
PoundHounds, a 501(c)3, serves a unique need in the animal welfare community. No other organization is focused on providing direct, grassroots support to Animal Control Officers (ACOs) and municipal town pounds and shelters. We work closely with Animal Control Officers (ACOs) and other rescue groups and shelters to help care for and place abandoned, abused or surrendered dogs in shelters and town pounds and provide medical care and spaying/neutering to counteract pet overpopulation. As of November 2012, PoundHounds has helped 36 towns and 1370 dogs, 537 of them with medical expenses, an area few groups support. That's a lotta dogs for a tiny group of women!
