Faith

Faith was a beautiful Shepherd sitting abandoned in a small town pound.

She was so beautiful and sweet, and even though we were afraid she had medical problems we had to try to save her. Sadly, Faith had been left untreated for so long that the vet told us her prognosis for survival was slim and any hope for a good quality of life was non-existent. We could take her to Tufts or Angell and leave her there to undergo a battery of tests, but in the end she would probably die...just more uncomfortable and more frightened than she already was.

She didn't even have a name until that moment, but when we made the decision to put her down, she still looked at us with such trust that we named her Faith. We don't know who abandoned her to suffer alone, but she did not die alone. This memorial is dedicated to all the rescue dogs that die without anyone to hold them and no one to mourn them. We don't know who owned Faith and who abandoned her, but in those few hours that marked the end of her life, she was our dog.

Our Faith.
