Ask The Trainer
PoundHounds is pleased to be joined by trainer and animal behaviorist Sonia Mullen of Chester, NH. Sonia is a behaviorist and trainer with over seven years of experience and a four year degree in Animal Behavior. She works with dogs having various behavior problems including aggression and anxiety. These dogs include family pets, rescued animals, and service companions. Sonia generously helps PoundHounds by regularly working with pound dogs who exhibit behavior problems which are preventing or delaying their adoption. Every month or so, Sonia will answer questions from our members. To submit a question, please email us with the word "TRAINER" in the subject line. We regret that Sonia won't be able to respond personally to every question.

Things to Consider When Adopting a Puppy or Adult Dog
Question: When I bring my adopted dog home, what should I do?
Question: Can my dog sleep with me in my bed?
Question: It's been one month since we brought our new dog home. At first it seemed to be going well, but now the new dog and the old dog are fighting, and the new dog seems to be afraid of my husband. What should we do?
Respect and Leadership
Question: Why is my dog digging holes all over the place all of a sudden?
Question: What can I do to prepare now that a dog who is a known biter has moved into the neighborhood?
Question: How do I "go green" when caring for my animals?
Question: Why do some dogs respect or fear men more? How can I help my dog be more comfortable around men?
Question: Do you have any ideas for house-training our 7 month old Maltese who still wakes up two times a night? This is like having a baby!
Question: I watched service dogs being trained and they're so obedient. Is there some way we can train our dogs to be just as obedient?
